This extension to a large family house provides a link between the previously isolated kitchen and the spacious garden. Its primary use is as a playroom for the young children. By extending the kitchen in this way their play becomes integrated with activities of grown ups in the remainder of the house and garden.

The space is arranged to focus on the landscape and gains daylight and sunlight from the linear opening to the sky and glass panoramic screen to the garden.

The heated stone floor provides an all purpose play surface and compliments the York stone paving and pond outside. Play storage boxes are arranged as drawers on wheels below perimeter seating giving easy access to toys.
