Light and shade are the keynote elements of this rooftop home. Shifting patterns of light and shade throughout the day reinforce the apparently floating roof of the new extension.
The lower floor is divided by a series of full height sliding doors to give maximum flexibility of space. It can be used either as one large space or as two, three or four separate rooms. The former roof has been punctured in two places, once to bring light to the centre of the lower floorplan, and once to allow a stair to the rooftop extension.
All materials and construction express the way in which they have been put together and use basic components such as sterlingboard floors and greenhouse roofing balustrades.
